It's a jungle out there

A couple of Thursday’s ago over at Doubles, Lynn Chase, the popular wildlife artist and environmentalist hosted The Penguin Party – A Black White & Red Night, to benefit her Chase Wildlife Foundation. Guests were asked to dress in penguin chic, with lots of beautiful black and white dresses seen throughout the room. The evening came complete with a special appearance by live penguins (singing for their supper, so to speak). The fun décor included blinking ice cube lights and (fake) penguins on the tables.

Mrs. Chase and Marianna J. Baker were the event’s Chairs, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lukas, Renee and Carl C. Landegger, Mrs. Danielle G. Luyten and Mr. and Mrs. David T. Schiff were Co-Chairs and Mrs. Jorie Butler Kent was Honorary Chair.

This year’s event honored Dr. Dee Boersma, Professor at the University of Washington, for her work with the Magellanic Penguins of Argentina. On hand were Lynn Chase and Dick Flintoft, Marianna Baker, Allison and Jay Aston, Joanna Baker, Alexandra and Gregory Landegger, Carolyn and Paul Zweben, David and Lisa Schiff, Angelene Pell, Sarah and Douglas Luke and Renee and Carl Landegger.

Lynn Chase is well known in her world for her beautiful porcelain and china creations – dinnerware, cachepots, giftware, furniture and other items. A portion of all proceeds from Lynn Chase designs are donated to the Chase Wildlife Foundation which the artist founded in 1988. the CWF was created to support a wide variety of projects intended to preserve and protect endangered species around the world and to maintain their fragile ecosystems. Visit her site here.

A few years ago someone gave me a couple of beautiful pieces from Lynn Chase’s portfolio of designs, including the coveted Jaguar design. The cachepot and cup are shown here along with a Swarovski crystal (another gift from a clever friend looking to add a little luster to the dull boy’s apartment).
