A
couple of Thursday’s ago over at Doubles, Lynn Chase, the
popular wildlife artist and environmentalist hosted The Penguin
Party – A Black White & Red
Night, to benefit her Chase Wildlife Foundation. Guests were asked to dress
in penguin
chic, with lots of beautiful black and white dresses seen throughout
the room. The evening came complete with a special appearance by
live penguins (singing for their supper, so to speak). The fun décor
included blinking ice cube lights and (fake) penguins on the tables.

are donated to the Chase Wildlife Foundation which the artist
founded in 1988. the CWF was created to support a wide variety
of projects
intended to preserve and protect endangered species around the
world and to maintain their fragile ecosystems. Visit her site
here.
A few years ago someone gave me a couple of beautiful pieces from
Lynn Chase’s portfolio of designs, including the coveted Jaguar
design. The cachepot and cup are shown here along with a Swarovski
crystal (another gift from a clever friend looking to add a little
luster to the dull boy’s apartment). |

The Lighthouse International held a “Centennial
Silent Auction, Wine and Food Tasting” to celebrate
100 years of Leadership and to benefit the Lighthouse, at the Sol
and Lillian Goldman Building
of Lighthouse International on 59th Street between Park and Lexington
avenues. All the proceeds will help support the Lighthouse to meet
the growing needs of people with vision impairment. The Lighthouse
is a fabulous organization which has been helping people of all ages
to overcome the challenges of vision loss for 100 years!
Mimi Sheraton was
honorary chair and there was a spectacular silent auction of more
than 100 one-of-a-kind items. One of the highlights
of the evening was a wine-tasting from many world-renowned vineyards,
as well as tastings from the celebrated chefs of Aureole, Barbetta,
English is Italian, Payard of Patisserie and Bistro, Flik International
and Pete’s Eats.
The auction included jewelry from David Yurman,
tickets to theatre and sporting events, including two orchestra seats
to Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple,” and
the latest electronic devices; luxurious health, beauty and home
products and
dining with such celebrities as Mimi Sheraton and Kitty Carlisle
Hart. |
