Last
Thursday night the stars were out for the 4th Annual International
Neuroscience Foundation Benefit celebrating H.STERN’s 60th
anniversary. After a long day of shooting Super Ex-girlfriend in
Queens, Uma Thurman (wearing H.STERN jewelry) found
time to lend her support to the 4th Annual INF benefit at Strata,
mingling with
friends until being whisked home in a brand new Bentley on display
outside.

Last
week the Brooklyn College Foundation honored
New Line Cinema’s Michael Lynne at a
dinner and award gala at Gotham Hall. The evening was hosted
by filmmaker John Waters. Don Imus, the one,
the only, presented the award to Mr. Lynne who graduated from
Brooklyn College in 1961, having majored in English (after
which he attended Columbia Law). Six years later in 1967, he
and Robert Shaye co-founded New Line Cinema
and produced The Lord of the Rings. We all know about
that success, which has been followed by a string of distinguished
box-office successes such as About Schmidt, The Player,
the Austin Powers trilogy, Rush Hour, Magnolia, Hairspray and
the Nightmare on Elm Street series.

The co-chairmen of the honorary dinner committee included Richard Parsons, Chair
and CEO of Time Warner, Jeff Bewkes, Chairman entertainment & Network
Groups, Time Warner, and Bob Shaye, Mr. Lynne’s co-founding partner as
well as co-chair and co-CEO of New Line.
An upshot of being a Brooklyn College alum and a great success in
the film industry
has been Mr. Lynne’s continued support of his alma mater. This night’s
event raised $800,000 to support the work of the college’s Foundation,
on the board of which Michael Lynne serves. |
