The Women’s Council of Monmouth Medical’s Leon Hess Cancer Center honored Lynn Redgrave at their annual Power of Pink Luncheon. This event celebrated a decade of the Women’s Council’s commitment to offering women the latest information on health and well-being; providing support for women and children during the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and raising funds for the Leon Hess Cancer Center and its state-of-the-art services.

Lynn Redgrave
Redgrave and her daughter Annabel Clark were the keynote speakers.

They’ve collaborated on a book Journal, A Mother’s and Daughter’s recovery from Breast Cancer, which was published this year.

Redgrave, who spoke about her personal battle with breast cancer and its impact, has fully recovered. She is currently starring on Broadway in “The Constant Wife” and is about to tour the country in the production of “The Importance of Being Earnest."

Patti Sciafa Springsteen, guitarist, vocalist and a local resident of the Monmouth Medical area, introduced Ms. Redgrave. She also donated copies of her first solo CD album to each luncheon guest.

Proceeds from this event will provide for the purchase of MRI Guided Breast Biopsy equipment to diagnose and stage suspected breast cancer. This advanced equipment is available in very few breast centers across the country. Monmouth Medical Center surgeons, oncologists and patients will benefit greatly by its technologically advanced abilities. Additionally, funds will be directed to the Hereditary Risk Assessment Program, designed for individuals and their families concerned about the hereditary risk for developing cancer.

In addition to Redgrave’s address, the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation provided music by “Outside The Box,” a jazz band of teenage musicians. There was an informal modeling of Luca Luca women’s apparel; and Gem of An Idea, a Fair Haven-based jeweler sponsored an intriguing sweepstakes to win a pearl necklace valued at $20,000.
