| A week ago Tuesday the Ermenegildo Zegna held a cocktail party in their new flagship store on Fifth Avenue for the benefit of the Robin Hood Foundation. Afterwards there was a private dinner to mark the occasion at the University Club. The Robin Hood Foundation was founded 20 years ago by hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones. Its objective was to help alleviate problems caused by poverty in New York. In the ensuing years, they’ve raised many millions at large and highly unpublicized (purposely) dinners in New York with world famous rock groups like The Rolling Stones and The Who entertaining the guests. The organization is regarded as a pioneer in what has been called venture philanthropy, or charity that embraces free-market forces. Have a look: http://www.robinhood.org/ [3] |
