Also last Monday night over at the Paula Cooper Gallery on West 21st Street, the Studio In A School held a cocktail party as part of their 30th anniversary gala evening honoring Dorothy Lichtenstein. After cocktails they all moved up the street to the Gagosian Gallery for dinner. The menu was provided by Danny Meyer’s Hudson Yards Catering and the décor was provided by the always astonishing Bronson van Wyck.
In the crowd: The Mayor, Marlene Hess, Ronald Lauder, Melva Bucksbaum and Ray Learsy, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Bob Colacello, Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro, Lauren and Richard DuPont, Michael Ovitz, Renee Rockefeller, Nick Rohatyn, Kiki Smith, William Wegman and Chirstine Burgin, Helen and Brice Marden, Kate Levin and Mark diSuvero, Lewis and Dorothy Cullman and on and on into the artful night.
The important part: The Studio in a School has enriched hundreds of thousands of kids with the creativity of the visual arts since 1977. Studio brings professional artists to New York City public schools and childcare centers to lead classes in drawing, collage, printmaking, painting and sculpting. The administrators love it, the teachers love it and even more, the children not only love it but take something away from it. |
