Natalie Portman at a private screening for “The Other Boleyn Girl." |
| Designer Alberta Ferretti, Milan’s queen of chiffon hosted a private screening at the Regal Cinemas on East 64th Street last week for “The Other Boleyn Girl,” based on the novel by Philippa Gregory about the two 17th-century sisters who caught the eye of Henry VIII. Mary lost at love with the King and Ann Boleyn, of course, not only lost at love but lost her head to the executioner’s axe, thanks to her husband’s fickle desires. Natalie Portman plays Ann and Scarlet Johansson plays her sister. After the screening, there was a private dinner celebration (for the film, not the starcrossed sisters) at Christie’s. New York’s young fashionables were out in full force and dressed for the occasion. |

| We don’t as a rule cover store openings unless they’re in our advertising family but Patrick McMullan was at the re-opening of Bonpoint at 1291 Madison Avenue where they staged a fashion show with the little and wee ones doing the runway bit. It was too cute to resist. |

| The New York Botanical Garden’s annual orchid dinner is without question one of the most beautiful galas on the yearly calendar. This year the dinner was held at the Rainbow Room high above Rockefeller Center, so it offers the splendid nightviews of the metropolis while the room was lit with nature’s splendor with the table arrangements. This year’s gala chairs were Mr. and Mrs. Eric Fast, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Graham, Jr., Mr. and Mr. Charles M. Royce. Chairs were Fernanda M. Kellogg, President of the Tiffany & Company Foundation, and Lisa Newsom, editor-in-chief of Veranda. Decorations Chair was Carolyn Englefield, editor-at-large over at Veranda. Underwriters for the evening were The Tiffany & Co. Foundation, The Bank of New York Mellon, and Veranda. |
