| April 26, 2009. A very warm weekend in New York. Like the buds on the trees, the town came out with the weather. In the high 80s on Saturday, with the temperature remaining warm through the night, and into the low 90s on Sunday. The Parks around New York were lively with people taking in the good weather, on bicycles, on foot, jogging, skating, dog-walking, children on the swings and sailboats sailing on the boat basin. I took the Digital on the dog-walks along the Promenade and Carl Schurz Park. More reminders of Mother Nature moving forward, life moving forward. The now notorious Astor trial begins this week in New York. This writer is just finishing up a revised two piece social history of the man who remains the center of the turmoil, the late Vincent Astor who passed away fifty years and two months ago; turning in his grave, no doubt, as they say, at the turmoil his fortune has created, and the circus it has turned into. |
