Women in the Boardroom. A small group of smart, enthusiastic women gathered for a talk with Davia Temin at the Carlisle/Per Se Showroom, 16 East 52nd Street (www.carlislecollection.com, 212.751.6490)

Temin, founder and CEO of Temin and Company (www.teminandco.com), a boutique management consultancy which helps corporations, professional services firms and other institutions define and strengthen their public image through strategic marketing, branding, media relations, speaker and media training, financial communications and crisis management and communications.

“Crisis has turned into the new normal,” she said. “A CEO’s reputation depends on his or her response to each situation, what they do and how they do it.” Temin explained that the dynamics of the boardroom involve a high level of intuitive capabilities in addition to the ability to govern.
Although Temin works with women and men, this special event provided a unique opportunity for women in positions of power to discuss their challenges, which have become especially difficult in the current economic climate. What makes an effective leader? Temin answered, “Sharing information from one’s personal experience and expertise plays a huge role in establishing a leader’s reputation as well as the tone and personality of the board room.”

Leena Gurevich, the fashion house Showroom Director, said that when she joined the company the female corporate executive was missing from its core clientele. “When you have a highly respected position, it’s important to look your best, so you can feel your best.” That’s what Carlisle offers the professional woman, a way to look her best. Every female executive can get exactly what she needs, and deserves. “We can tailor clothes to suit individuality, something we pride ourselves on.”
The Collections ...
“When you can hit the bull’s eye of truth,” Temin said, “you can get to the heart of the matter quickly, effectively and with good humor and spirit, which frees you to move forward and make things better!”

Among those participating in the discussion were: Bina Kalola; Bonny Dorland; Charles Masson; Elmira Bayrasli; Eyrique Miller; Janet Monastro; Jennifer Yu; Joan Rose; Katy Ann Lyons; Kelly Hoey; Marcy Cohen; Margaret Mager; Mia Haugen; Nancy Swiezy; Nicole Maselli; Sheila Romming, President and CEO of Women in the Boardroom; and Carlisle’s Viva Bhogaita.
