Last Saturday, June 4th, the daughter and son of two celebrated American political and philanthropic families, Andrea John Catsimatidis and Christopher Nixon Cox, were married at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Ms. Catsimatidis-Cox, 21, is the daughter of Margo and John Catsimatidis. Mr. Catsimatidis is Chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group, Gristedes Foods, and the Red Apple Group subsidiary, United Refining Company. The bride’s mother founded MCV Advertising Associates and is Publisher of the Hellenic Times Newspaper. The Catsimatidises are well-known philanthropists and political donors, who have contributed to both Republican and Democratic candidates and office holders across the country. |

Mr. Cox, 32, is the son of Patricia Nixon Cox, always known as Tricia, daughter of the late President Richard M. Nixon and Mrs. Nixon, and Edward Finch Cox. Mr. Cox is Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee. He also has served as Chairman of the Corporate Department and a member of the Management Committee of the law firm of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP. In 2008, Cox was named in Super Lawyers in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance, and his firm was ranked third on The American Lawyer’s 2008 "A-List" of leading law firms in the United States. Mrs. Cox serves on the boards of several foundations which contribute to medical research and other causes. She also serves on the board of the Richard Nixon Foundation.
Saturday’s wedding took place almost 40 years to the day after the groom's parents were married in a White House Rose Garden ceremony. (That wedding occurred on June 12, 1971.) |

| Following the ceremony, a reception and dinner for more than 700 guests were held in the Grand Ballroom of New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Family members present included the groom’s great uncles Edward Nixon and Edward Finch, as well as his parents’ siblings Julie Nixon Eisenhower, Howard Cox, and Mazie Cox. Other notables included: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Congressman Gus Bilirakis, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Former New York State Governor George Pataki, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Former Ambassador to the European Union Boyden Gray, Former Ambassador to El Salvador Charles L. The groom served as Senator John McCain’s Executive Director for New York State during the 2008 presidential campaign and is co-founder of the consulting firm, OC Global Partners, LLC. Previously, he was a corporate associate at the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges in their New York office where he worked in the Private Equity Group. He also worked for the rights of New York State small business owners in Albany on a pro-bono basis. He was a Republican candidate for Congress in New York's First Congressional District in 2010. Ms. Catsimatidis-Cox, 21, is President of the New York University Republican Club and active in numerous New York civic and philanthropic endeavors.
The bride’s dress was designed by Reem Acra. The Groom was outfitted by Tom Ford. Event design and flowers were done by Preston Bailey. Special bombonieres were handmade in Greece and created for each guest as a keepsake. The happy couple, who are currently on their honeymoon in Hawaii and California, will reside in New York. |
