Last week at Cipriani Wall Street Denise Rich hosted the 2010 Angel Ball to benefit Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. They honored four outstanding individuals for their commitment and dedication to the fight against cancer: the lead guitarist of U2, The Edge and his wife, director, choreographer and dancer Morleigh Steinberg; COTY, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Bernd Beetz; and Sean Parker, Managing Partner of the Founder’s Fund and creator of online music sharing site Napster and Facebook Causes. Entertainment Tonight correspondent Samantha Harris served as the emcee for this year’s Gala.
Rich founded Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research 14 years ago in memory of her daughter Gabrielle, who imparted a dying wish to raise funds for those who are suffering before she passed away at age 27 from acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). To date, Rich’s Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $13 million to cutting-edge medical researchers in the fields of leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers. |

| Each year, Denise Rich hosts this signature fundraiser for the Foundation called the Angel Ball. Through the event, A-listers and business leaders donate millions to the cause, making it one of the largest non-governmental sources of grant support to blood cancer researchers. This year was no different. |

| The success of Fountain House lies in its positive and comprehensive approach to recovery. It focuses on members’ strengths, abilities, hopes, and dreams, rather than weaknesses or disabilities. Fountain House believes that every person with mental illness has the potential to succeed and can do so with community support. For 1,300 people annually, they provide support in finding a home, returning to school, re-entering the workplace, and re-establishing connections to family, friends, and the larger community. The Fountain House model has been replicated in more than 400 locations in 30 countries and 32 states, serving more than 55,000 people with mental illness worldwide. |
